The latest City Sleuth took me to Ragged Ass Barbers on Robinson in the Cathedral district here in Regina. Of course, when I heard the name, I just had to check it out. What I found was an old school barber shop with modern twists. Craig Zamonsky, the owner, got the name from a road in Yellowknife where he opened his first traditional barber shop. Now back to his hometown in Regina, he has brought the concept with him. Step into a man-cave complete with video games, sports on the tube, all sorts of men’s magazines (and no, I will not name them) all with a feel of manly camaraderie. Craig trained and worked for years as a professional hair stylist so he can do the traditional cuts as well as the latest coifs for men and offers all the hair care products you need to keep up your new (or old) look. The coolest thing I saw was the hot towel shave! Shave and a haircut – 2 bits! OK so it’s not 2 bits but it is affordable. Check ‘em out, hang with the guys, build a new tradition for your own boys and support a cool new local biz all at the same time!
