Dessart Sweets

This week’s episode took City Sleuth to Dessart Sweets in the Cathedral district of Regina (on 13th) where I met Shelley Patterson, the owner of the shop.  It was brought to my attention via facebook where they were advertising an evening special for cardamom flavored soft ice cream.  Now I’ve had black sesame, red adzuki bean, green tea and even lavender ice cream but never cardamom – so this seemed like a job for City Sleuth!
When I got here, however, I found something truly unique – a Joe Fafard sculpture…wait for it…in chocolate!  Now Joe Fafard truly represents Saskatchewan to me and his sculptures are near and dear to my heart since I got engaged in the middle of a Fafard sculpture in Wascana Park entitled “Mind’s Garden”.  Shazam, I have found the perfect wedding present!
On arriving at Dessart Sweets, I found a plethora of fun candy that took me back to my childhood – there were Wacky Packs, Jawbreakers, Sugar Babies, Gold Rush gum and many, many more!  The place is colorful and fun and Shelley is as sweet and endearing as the products she stocks.  You really do need to pop in some time and check them out.  Tell them City Sleuth sent you and be sure to say hello to Shelley!

  1. Looks like a fun place. I know someone that would love a licorice sampler. So, I will be sure to drop in. BTW: love your mustache!
